About Us

Mission
The Harriet Tubman Leadership Academy for Young Women will prepare students for success in college and future careers in an environment that is tailored to stimulate their intellectual curiosity and to address their developmental needs.

School Focus
Math, Science & Leadership

Enrollment
- We will begin accepting applications for grades 6-12 in January 2010.
- Open to any young woman in the Portland Public Schools through the enrollment & transfer process.

Special Features
- Small, personalized learning environment for young women

- Integrated sixth through twelfth grade program

- Rigorous college-preparatory curriculum

- Four-year career pathway program for engineering (Project Lead the Way)

- Extra support for students who need it (homework help, tutoring, support classes in math and reading)

- After-school, Saturday & summer enrichment opportunities

- College-preparatory activities for students in grades 6-12 (AVID program)

School Uniforms
Students are required to come to school every day in uniform.  The uniform consists of a white polo shirt and navy blue, khaki or black bottoms (pants or skirt).  Name brands are not permitted on clothing.  The uniform clothing may be purchased at a variety of stores around Portland.  For more information, please refer to our “School Uniform Specifications Sheet” which is available in our school’s main office or Click here for Uniform Policy .
